What happens during a session?
During the session, you’re welcome to share anything you feel is important, without needing to relive any trauma. I’ll guide the conversation in a relaxed way, and you may even find yourself laughing - yes, really! There will be moments where you can close your eyes if you’re comfortable, and times where you’ll simply listen to my guidance. Many clients finish a session feeling amazed at the transformative effect a simple, compassionate conversation can bring.
Do I have to talk about or relive my trauma during sessions?
No, you don’t have to talk in-depth about your trauma to experience relief. My approach is centered around creating a sense of safety and ease, focusing on your present feelings rather than revisiting painful memories. We work together in a way that minimises emotional discomfort, allowing the emotional suffering to end without the need to go into past details unless you want to.
How long does a session last?
Sessions are held via Zoom and can last between 60 mins to 2.5 hours. Toward the end, Cher will assess whether a second session would be beneficial for you. She also encourages you to keep in touch for up to 7 days after the session, so she can continue assessing your progress and determine if additional support would be helpful.
Will this work for my specific trauma (e.g., rape, childhood abuse, grief)?
This approach is highly effective for specific trauma from experiences like rape, sexual assault, childhood abuse, heartbreak, and grief. I tailor each session to meet your individual needs, focusing on providing relief from the specific pain you’re carrying. I feel guilty for wanting to feel better from grief - is this normal?
Yes, it’s completely normal to feel this way. Many people confuse suffering with caring, believing that holding onto pain is a sign of love or loyalty. But remember, your loved one wouldn’t want you to suffer. Grief doesn’t have to be your mark of love. Allowing yourself to heal doesn’t diminish the love you feel; it honours your well-being and can even deepen your connection to the memories you hold dear
Can this approach help if I’m currently experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, or other ongoing challenges?
If you’re currently in a difficult situation, such as domestic violence, homelessness, or another ongoing challenge, this approach can provide some relief and help you manage immediate emotional pain. Is there a minimum age requirement for sessions?
Yes, I work independently with clients aged 16 and older. For clients between the ages of 13 and 15, I’m happy to facilitate sessions with consent from a parent or guardian.
